Colleagues admit to pulling punches on Palin

Fox News severs contracts with those candidates who announce their candidacy for president.  (What’s worng with this picture?)  So far, Rick Santorim and Newt Gingrich have both been terminated.  No so with Sarah Palin.  She has not announced, therefore she is still an employee of Fox News.

In The Five, Greg Gutfeld and Bob Beckel both manned up and admitted that they pulled punches when it came down to talking about Palin because she worked there. Beckel basically clarified and said really that it was because he got a paycheck. Do we interpret that as Palin is under the protection of Fox News?   Perhaps she will never declare and will have no one criticize her ever on Fox News.  That’s one way to keep things quiet.

On the other hand, Palin does not disappoint.  She predictably threw out her victim card in the video.  Don’t you love someone that easy to predict?  Whine, Sarah, Whine.  Show a little tooth there, Mama Grizzly!  No one does victimizaton any better.

Sarah Palin Doesn’t Just Hunt Moose

Sarah Palin also hunts American icons.  Now Palin is after JFK.  Why is she targetting all the American icons?  Let’s see:  Reagan, Daddy and Mrs. Bush, W. Bush, and now none other than JFK.  What has he done?

Back in the summer we ran a post celebrating the 50th anniversary of JFK’s speech to the ministers of Houston on the importance of the wall of separation between church and state.   That speech was considered to be one of Kennedy’s most important.  To this day, he is the only Roman Catholic to be elected President of the United States.

Kathleen Kennedy Townsend has addressed Palin’s erroneous thinking in an opinion piece in the Washington Post   Saturday:

In her new book, “America by Heart,” Palin objects to my uncle’s famous 1960 speech to the Greater Houston Ministerial Association, in which he challenged the ministers – and the country – to judge him, a Catholic presidential candidate, by his views rather than his faith. “Contrary to common newspaper usage, I am not the Catholic candidate for president,” Kennedy said. “I am the Democratic Party’s candidate for president who happens also to be a Catholic.”

Palin Needs to Listen to the Blue Bloods and Learn a Lesson

Sarah Palin shoots from the not only the hip but also the lip. The other day, when asked about Palin, Mrs. Barbara Bush, that grand matriarch, replied that she thought she should stay in Alaska. That was pretty kind for Mrs. Bush, who also has had a reputation for decades for calling things as she sees them, albeit with a certain amount of style.  Mrs. Bush has been a first lady and the mother of 2 governors, and a president.

Palin couldn’t let it slide, and she should have. She responded with an ‘with all due respect’ and an ‘I love the Bushes’ but still managed to zing them by referencing them as blue bloods:

I say that in all due respect,” Palin told talk radio host Laura Ingrahm on November 24, who said the Bushes are an example of the “Blue Blood who want to pick and choose their winners, instead of allowing competition to pick and choose the winners.”

“They kinda do some of this with some of the economic policies that were in place that got us in to some of these economic woeful times, too,” Palin added.

Tacky, Sarah, Tacky! Why does she have to engage every slight she sees or hears? How many times did those blue bloods, the Bushes, ignore events and things said and just not comment? Remember the Bush girls? One got in serious trouble for sticking her naughty tongue out at the press early in W’s presidency. No one made up excuses for her. No one said ‘well she was just tired of people saying bad things about her family.’ Remember the underage drinking incident? No one in the Bush family or administration made up excuses that time either.

Palin and Gingrich Begin the Ben Bashing

Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich have both turned their sites onto to Federal Reserve and its leader, Ben Bernanke.  Both Palin and Gingrich have started taking their shots via Twitter.  The 2012 Wannabes are expected to follow suit.   Attacks on The Fed, before September 2008, were pretty much confined to the gold bugs, conspiracy theorists, and the financial press.

Post election 2010 much has changed.  According to the Huffington Post:

The tea party itself — judging from its 10-point “Contract From America,” at least — did not make the Fed a top concern; they were focused on spending issues.

But the tea party tide also swept in numerous libertarian hard-money types and fellow travelers, a cadre soon to grow. They hate the very idea of the Fed, not to mention Bernanke’s activism in running the place.

Hopefully Benanke will put on earplugs and blinders and do what he has to do.  The Fed is an independent agency.  Bernanke  is appointed.   He will not run for election or re-election.  And meanwhile,  Sarah Palin, the eternally ill-informed candidate who should not have run,  continues to be mean as a snake.  Maybe she will put a sock in it.  I can’t imagine anyone whose advice I would be less likely to take.   Palin witch hunts just about everything.  She Ben Bashes but offers nothing positive.

Sarah Palin Blames Environmentalists for the Oil Spill

Every time one thinks things just can’t get more outrageous, Sarah Palin opens her mouth.  She now blames environmentalists for the BP oil spill.  According to her own facebook comments:

With [environmentalists’] nonsensical efforts to lock up safer drilling areas, all you’re doing is outsourcing energy development, which makes us more controlled by foreign countries, less safe, and less prosperous on a dirtier planet. Your hypocrisy is showing. You’re not preventing environmental hazards; you’re outsourcing them and making drilling more dangerous.

Extreme deep water drilling is not the preferred choice to meet our country’s energy needs, but your protests and lawsuits and lies about onshore and shallow water drilling have locked up safer areas. It’s catching up with you. The tragic, unprecedented deep water Gulf oil spill proves.

We don’t need the blame game.  We need to get that gusher stopped and start the clean up.   Does Sarah Palin thrive on discord and animosity?  Does she want Americans to hate each other?  Her behavior indicates that the answer to that question is yes.  Shame on Sarah Palin, again.

Abstinence-Only Cash Cow

Abstinence only seems to be both a cash cow and a political hotcake. And it got lots of headlines this week.

First off, Bristol Palin will be paid  up to $30,000 per gig for her abstinence only promos. What kind of message does this send to the very audience the message is intended for? Don’t have sex before marriage. However, if you do and if you have a baby, you can make 30 grand talking about it and telling others to do as you say, not as you do? That’s a hideous message.

According to SeattlePI.com:

Opportunity knocks when you are America’s best-known teenage mom, and Bristol Palin has signed on with Single Source Speakers to give lectures at $15,000 to $30,000 a pop, more lucrative than her current job at an Anchorage doctor’s office.

The second outrage is Mark Souder and the ‘other woman’ who just happened to be his staffer, ‘starring’ in an ‘abstinence only’ video. From Politico:

Rep. Mark Souder (R-Ind.), who will resign from Congress as a result of an affair with a female staffer, filmed a video interview about abstinence only education with that same staffer.

In a statement announcing his resignation, Souder admitted the affair took place with a “part-time member of my staff.” GOP sources identified the woman that Souder had the affair with as Tracy Meadows Jackson. Jackson has been a part-time employee on Souder’s staff since Dec. 2004, according to House financial disbursement records. Jackson could not be reached for comment Tuesday morning

Such hypocrisy. In fact, the fact that non-abstinence people are pushing abstinence is pure hypocrisy. The fact that abstinence is being pushed at all is hypocrisy. Modern life is overloaded with sexual messages from everywhere. Kids get bombarded with these messages from the time they are old enough to be aware  from various multiple sources: on the news, radio, Internet, films, advertising, magazines, music, TV, politics, Madison Avenue, the clothing industry…. There is no escaping it. Kids cannot be protected but so much from sexual messages. The taboos that were in place when I was growing up are simply not there now. They won’t come back. The times they are NOT a’changing. They have changed and they will stay changed.

Young people need to be encouraged to make responsbile choices. Parents should be setting goals and behavioral expections for their children. Kids need to be know that sex has consequences and very often these consequences are life altering. Kids need to know about contraception, disease prevention and other vital information in the event that they do become sexually active.

‘Don’t do it’ only works so well. A good dose of  practicality needs to be thrown in with the don’t do it.  Ms. Palin is just capitalizing on glam.  Souder is  beneath contempt. How dare he.  Maybe his wife will take him to the cleaners.

A Little Levity Please

Elizabeth Hasselbeck seems to think we should all go around in mourning because of the economy or maybe its over the 2 wars.  She wasn’t quite clear during her rant.  She needs to read some history.  Americans got through the Great Depression  listening to FDR’s Fireside Chats.  He tried to cheer people up, keep them informed, give them hope.  Yes, he told a joke or two.  Americans have always maintained their cheerfulness in the face of adversity.

Some background, Sarah Palin, like her or not, mocked President Obama by writing on her hand as her ‘teleprompter.’ Now everyone knows that all presidents since JFK have used the teleprompter.  They have other things to do rather than sit around memorizing speeches.  However, laughing at President Obama over his use of the teleprompter is something his opponents have latched on to, and so be it.  He is a gifted speaker.

This humor seems rather harmless to me.  Palin mocks Obama,  Gibbs mocks Palin.  No one is a sacred cow.  There is nothing much vicious being said.  So why does Elizabeth Hasselbeck get close to hysterical over the issue?  I don’t watch The View.  I don’t enjoy watching and listening to people attempt to scream over each other.   But isn’t Hasselbeck really a little over the top or is she just politically naive?

Did Hasselbeck think Palin was serious?  Didn’t she realize that Palin was spoofing the President?  I thought it was silly but also harmless.  And she got it back at her.  Hopefully she is woman enough to take it.  I imagine she is.

Palin-o-phobia Footage

You folks knew this was coming. The media is aglow with Palin-o-phobia. Some of it is funny. Some pathetic. Some fair. Some not fair. On the other hand, if you can’t run with the big dogs, stay on the porch,
