Walker appointee suggests volcanoes are real culprit of climate change

Huffingtonpost.com:

Wisconsin, which has been in the news this week for voting to bar staff of the state public lands board from talking about climate change, is getting a new state official who is skeptical of human contribution to climate change.

Gov. Scott Walker (R) recently appointed Mike Huebsch to the state Public Service Commission, and Huebsch was asked about his views on climate change during his confirmation hearing this week. The Public Service Commission oversees utility issues in the state, including electricity, gas and water.

“I believe that humans can have an impact to climate change, but I don’t think it’s anywhere near the level of impact of just the natural progression of our planet,” Huebsch said, according to the Wisconsin Radio Network. “You know, the elimination of essentially every automobile would be offset by one volcano exploding. You have to recognize the multiple factors that go into climate change.”

Scientists have studied this issue fairly extensively, and concluded that emissions generated by human activity — specifically, the burning of fossil fuels — far surpass volcanoes when it comes to warming the planet. Human activities generate about 35 gigatons of greenhouse gases per year, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, while all the world’s volcanoes combined spew something in the range of 0.13 to 0.44 gigatons per year. That means the human influence on the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is 80 to 270 times greater than that of volcanoes.

I don’t think there is THAT much geothermal activity going on.  Why do people say things like this regarding climate change?    I believe the readers will have something to contribute on this issue.

Will the ban be lifted?  Will state employees be allowed to say “climate change?”  I guess not talking about something will make it go away?

New Sleeping Giant?

Several weeks ago, several scrappy little labor unions banded together against big brother out in Wisconsin.  Support grew until thousands of protesters piled into Madison, the state capital, to protest the attack on the very life blood of unions everywhere.  Governor Scott Walker might just have overplayed his hand.

Walker went after the public sector unions using the state budget crisis as a reason for draconian measures that held union members accountable for a higher percent of health care and pension contribution.  The union conceded and then Walker tried to take collective bargaining away from them.  Like the gambler, he couldn’t walk away from the table and now he has a tiger by the tail.  The 14 Democrats are still self-sequestered away so a quorum is not possible.  Thousands of people from other unions have joined in solidarity with the Wisconsin public employees. Read More

$250k isn’t rich for Bush tax cuts, but $50k is for teachers

Huh?  Since when is $50k in this day and time adequate?

Jon Stewart explains  tells it like it is.

The Wisconsin fight continues and Jon points out the sheer hypocrisy of Republicans protecting those making more than $250k while at the same time howling over teachers making $50k.  That’s pretty hard to explain, unless you are Jon Stewart.

What part of his skit isn’t true?

Those wascally fat cat teachers are just greedy!

Jon Stewart has it all figured out about teachers and has a little private talk with them.  He wants them to straighten up and fly right.

Jon Stewart’s mother really was a teacher, in New Jersey.    Don’t let these teachers fool you!  Those money grubbers.

Stewart explores class warfare.  The Democrats are pitting the top 2% against the lower 98%.    What can be done abouut these villans of chalk board?  They are living in the 1890’s.   They are destroying America.  They have chalk dust on their clothing.  They drive old cars.  They have special text books with all the answers in them.  Who has a gym and a cafeteria at the work place, other than Google employees?  What about the greed that led these people into their profession?   The Crisis in Dairy Land continues.  The Curds are angry.

Badger Boy loses a badge or two

Jon listens in on the fake David Koch phone call.  It seems that Badger Boy is not quite the honorable young lad he would have us believe.

Stay tuned.  Badger Boy will appear in the morning.  Prepare to be embarrassed.  If you think fake doctor notes and vanishing Dems are bad…

So, is it ok to trick the Democratic legislators?  I thought the coyote was supposed to be the trickster, not the badger.

It sounds like Governor ‘Badger Boy’ Walker has a trick or two up his sleeve and might have some explaining to do.
